All Things to All Men

|
|

All Things To All Men.
I was empty
Like a prayer book
Like a long look
At a dusty bone
I was silent
Like a stoplight
Like a bad night
In a broken home
Nothing to no one
All offers taken
All things to all men
Nothing forgiven
I was fragile
Like a heart beat
Like a main street
In a holy land
I was violent
Like a mistrial
Like a glass vial
In a lifeless hand
I was worthless
Like all things
Like the good wing
Of a wounded bird
I was vacant
Like a phone call
Like the dead fall
Of a final word

Leave (lyrics by ARINA)
It's so dark I can barely see
It's so dark I can barely breath
I just want the dark to leave
The night time falls upon us
It's so dark I can barely see
It's so dark I can barely breath
I just want the dark to leave
The night time falls upon us
It's so dark I can barely see
It's so dark I can barely breath
I just want the dark to leave
It's so dark I can barely see
It's so dark I can barely breath
There's nobody left for me
To cry on cry on.

Blood in my Eyes

|
|
||
Blood in my Eyes
The snow is so cold
And I can hear a church bell
I'm a hundred miles from home
And it's darker every step
I hear a voice in my ear
As the wind moves through me
A promise I followed here
like a frozen fool
Skin as white as the snow
Hair as dark as dusk
Eyes that showed her soul
Willing me to trust her
Calling out from the dark
I stumble over my thoughts
Get me out of the dark
And into her arms
I don't know you sister
Like I feel that I should.
There's blood in my eyes
And tears in my blood
I can't shout anymore
My voice is frozen
I can't walk anymore
I couldn't feel a kiss
The night is so cold
covers me like a blanket
I fell by the road
And that's where they'll find me

If you think, "I can't take it anymore"
In all the confusion.
In a blink, I will break you from the solitude
It's just an illusion
If it's real, all our dreams of yesterday
Were just a distraction.
Can you feel it girl, something reaching from infinity
Let's make a connection.
I am the whisper in the silence
When the world has turned to dust
You are the light out in the dark
I am the pulse of electricity when the beat has turned to rust
In the machinery of your heart

Desperate Twins

Desperate Twins
There seems to be some kind of power at work here
A magic, comprised of both darkness and light
Determined to watch us climb inside each other
The physical flux, the spiritual flight
And even the tide seem to rise with our tempers
And fall, when we lie with our limbs intertwined
Exposing the bark, bleached like bone, with the carving
The elements bend, the sentiments bind
Chorus
Bending in ways that no body should bend see them glisten
Twisting our bones to unnatural forms hear them crack.
Through terrible silence and terrible rages
And lions on leashes and devils in cages
Hold on to me lover we're stronger together hold on
Joined at the heart the invisible vessel
Draws blood to the parts of each other we crave
Healing our wounds and inflaming our passions
The lunatic sane, the heretic saved
Bridge
In rooms left like alters to idolatrous sins
We worship in secret as desperate twins

This is the House

|
|

This is the House
This is the house where I was transformed
Where once was a serpent
Where once was a slave
And this is the room where the martyrs were burned
Where once was a gallows
Where once was a grave
This is the house where I was desired
Where once was a stranger
Where once was a stray
And this is the room where the nightmares were sired
Where once was a warning
Where once was a way
Put bars on the windows
Put locks on the door
And tell the dear children
Don’t come round no more.
This is the house where I was absolved
Where once was a heathen
Where once was a whore
And this is the room where the shadows were called
Where once was a circle
Where once was a star
This is the house where I was devoured
Where once was a hunter
Where once was a horn
And this is the room where the bodies were stored
Where once was an orgy
Where once was a war

The Winding Sheet.
In the dismal night air dressed
I will creep into her breast
Flush her cheek and blanch her skin
And feed on the vital fire within
Lover do not trust her eye
When they sparkle most she dies
Mother do not trust her breath
Comfort she will find in death
Father do not try to save her
She is mine and I will have her
The coffin must be her bridal bed
The winding sheet must wrap her head
The whispering wind must o're her sigh
For soon in the grave the maid must die
The silent snow must o're her fall
And too her lover I must call

Song for Frances
There was a satellite out in the dark
Broadcasting messages like digital sparks
Lit for a little while however brief
Small shared experience that make up a life
You did well little sister you did well
There is no poetry to this at all
No vicious mystery that we might solve
You did well little sister you did well
Ask not to borrow time no life is long.
She has not left us here but simply gone
You did well little sister, you did well

Go to the Water

Go to the Water
I'm still haunted by the beauty of it all
The beauty and the tragedy
And I'm still dragging rotten memories
Of buried pride and complacency.
I'm still wakened by something in my room
That my dreams could not contain
A perverse embodiment of guilt and regret
That wants me to explain why I did nothing
And if I go to the water will you meet me there x2
Why I let her pour out her rhetoric like wine
We all consumed to numb the pain
Why with all the power of my lungs and heart
Did I not end any discourse and scream at her to stop
Buy my hands were tied by ignorance and fear
And some sick and childish curiosity.
But christ if I could go back to that fucking room
I'd lift her up and take her home with me
And if I go to the water will you meet me there x4
I'm still haunted by the beauty of it all
The beauty and the tragedy

The Deal

The Deal
I saw damnation in the eyes of a woman
The devil staring back at me
She wore a miracle of science a lyrical alliance
To every law of decency
She held a glass of good tequila and her laugh was full of scorn
The kind of noise you only hear at night
I swear I saw a hand reach out of her shadow
Like an insect desperate for the light
Chorus
I've got my horns, it's where I hang my halo
I've got my wings my silver tongue
I've got my bible, held in my idle hands
Just the same as everyone.
Then came a man full of fancy talk and swagger
A shepherd in the market for a flock
He had the good book and a pistol, a look as clear as crystal
As steady as the ticking of a clock
He held everybody hostage and his will was iron clad
The kind of friend you look for in a fight
I swear I saw him make a deal with the devil
Like some bad wrong had just been put right
Bridge
Last time I saw them they were living in Manhattan
In an alley backing on to saint mark's place
Her arms were full of needles, he was walking with a cane
And couldn't wipe the smile off of his face
And in the evening when they'd made their daily rounds
Their appetites completely satisfied
They'd come together, underneath whichever sky they saw
Dividing up the souls they had acquired
Yeah
I find salvation in the eyes of every stranger
I give my heart to all my soul to none
Ya see I way to bad for heaven
And far too good for hell
So I'm gonna stick around and have some fun
Oh, yeah!

A Word On Lions

A Word on Lions
On the day you are born you are gifted a box of lion cubs
By the neglectful owner of a run down circus
Attached to the box is a note that says
"You are the ringmaster now".
The owner, because he is drunk or broken
Or simply uninterested, gives you no further instruction
So it doesn't seem odd when the lions begin to act out
They're lions, you think to yourself, they're meant to be wild.
But lion cubs mature much faster than human children
So soon you have a pride of
Adult lions snarling and pacing around you
One is very affectionate but doesn't realize its strength
And sometimes plays too rough
One is very loyal but lashes out with tooth and claw
If it ever senses uncertainty
One is fearless to the point of recklessness
And often hurts you or puts you in harm's way
One is very trusting but if you make a single mistake
It will slice you open and never trust you again
One is very intelligent but is often influenced by the others
Which lead it to become furious when things go wrong.
One offers nothing but whispers and taunts when the others
Have worn you down to your weakest
And there you are a child alone
Surrounded by these beautiful and terrifying animals
With no idea how to make them behave
So you build a cage and lock yourself up with your lions
You let them out when they are quiet
But they never stay quiet for long.
Now you're an adult.
People see you going about with your lions
They are drawn to the air of honesty affection loyalty fun
And intelligence that follows you
Love and the discovery that lions are jealous creatures
Mercurial animals that lovers can't tame
Soon they grow tired and when they crawl out of the cage
Cut to ribbons they curse you and your lions
And so it goes for years
So many people come and go
That you can't remember all the names
Some stay a year or two some only a day
While you begin to hate the lions
You try to bargain with them
But you have nothing they need
You try to outrun them but they chase you like prey
You try to poison them and strangle them and make them bleed
But they are mighty creatures
Eventually,if you haven't died from your wounds
And loneliness too you accept that they're your lions
And you find a kind ringmaster with scars of their own
To teach you how to tame them.
But lions are wild and lions are strong
If you take your eye off them they might rip you to shreds
But you're the ringmaster of your own circus now
So don't let go of the whip
